9. Emotive and impactful writing

Writing in social work practice is for different purposes, different audiences and in different contexts.  However, it can often include content that is distressing or otherwise emotionally impactful for the social worker tasked with producing a report or recording or case notes.

Take a moment to reflect on the different writing that you have carried out recently within your current role.

  • Which writing(s) have you found most difficult and emotionally challenging?
  • Make a note of the reasons why they were particularly difficult for you.
